I have read about the Iranian revolution and the history of the Shah, western involvement during WW2, but I don’t grasp the fundamental reason why almost forty years later, the two sides can’t get to some common ground.

USA (only remaining superpower on earth)
Canada (economic giant)
Britain (most influential nation in modern history)
Ireland (one of Europe’s fastest growing economies)

Australia (regional superpower)
India (emerging global superpower)
Israel (only true democracy in the Middle East and region’s strongest military power)
Even China would not be the giant it is today had it not been culturally and economically coonnected to the world via the British outpost of Hong Kong).
Would you say all these nations have achieved their success BECAUSE they were part of the British Empire or IN SPITE OF being part of the British Empire?
Would America be as great as it today is had it originally been a Spanish colony?
Would Israel and Canada be as great or successful as they are today they were originally French colonies? Indeed, would the French have even created a Jewish homeland in Israel?
Would India or China be emerging superpowers today had Germany and Portugal [rather than Britain] colonized India and Hong Kong respectively?
Would Singapore be as rich if Japan rather than Britain colonized it? Would the wealthy Gulf states have been better off colonized by Turkey?
I realize that other former British colonies - Iraq, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, etc are now in turmoil but my opinion is that the British Empire has had a net-positive effect on the world.

They always tell others they cant have nuclear weapons because they could have harmful intentions with it, but history proves that the only one who has used such weapons in the United States itself with the bombing of Nagasaki and Hirsoshima, so why wont they give off their weapons first, that would be a lot more realistic, wouldnt it?
